Craft Gossip

As I mentioned in my intro, I am going to start out very basic.
The main reason for this is that without tool and materials knowledge, it can be quite discouraging to try and paint.
For too long there has been a mystique attached to painting.
In reality, it is largely a matter of tools, materials, and technique.
Painting, while needing to be practiced, is a very approachable medium for creating.
ok..on to the tool, already.

Brushes: Your most important tool.
I like this type of brush.
my fav brush

For general work, this in all sizes will serve you well.
I do most of my shopping for brushes with dickblick.

Another nice type of brush for smaller decorative painting are small special effects brushes.

There all kinds of brushes for all kinds of reasons.
The higher the number on the brush, you will see, the larger the brush is.
Get the best you can afford. Poor quality paint brushes lead to frustration.
Also, experiment with different types of brushes as you are able to do so.
There is always something to discover.
Don’t forget that many things around the house can serve as brushes. Q-tips, toy car wheel rolled on a surface, sponges, rags, combs…have fun and play with it.
It isn’t just children that learn through play.
Last but not least I leave you with this brush guide.
And I leave you with a link to a wonderful resource for all levels of painters.
